Meet Millie and Molly!

Hello, Mom!

Sorry for being absent for a couple of days. Let me tell you, when the Isenbarger family gets together, they GET TOGETHER. We just had a week of family fun where I got to meet some of "the grands" (as Lynn calls them), along with another one of their kids, Cole, and his wife Emily. (Lynn and Craig have six puppies. That's quite a litter!)

Anyway, I wanted to tell you about my sisters, Millie and Molly. Millie belongs to Lisa, and has been a part of the family since 2013. She and her brother were found wandering in Johnson County, Indiana and put into a kill shelter. Luckily, a rescue here in Lafayette went and got them and that is where Lisa found her. Millie was Lisa's Christmas gift that year, and she says it was the best Christmas gift ever.

Millie is about my height and a beautiful light brown and white with some black shading. They think she may have some beagle in her, although she is not a barker or a bayer like beagles can be. I have learned that she is the boss dog and that she does not want me to sniff her backside. Despite her age (she's about eleven) she loves to play and we bounce around the house a lot together.

Millie nearly died in 2016 and had to be rushed to a clinic in Indianapolis where she had emergency surgery to have her gall bladder removed. Poor Lisa actually passed out, she was so worried she would lose her Millie!  Now they call Millie the "Six Thousand Dollar Dog." (But then they add, "But she's worth it!) She has also gone deaf this past year and can only hear high pitched sounds. She's learned to respond to hand signals as she is a very smart doggie.

Molly is a beautiful yellow Lab with carmel tones in her coat who used to be Lynn and Craig's dog. (Kathy helped them find her, just like she helped them find me!) She came from the LaGrange area and had been used as a breeder for five years. She was very traumatized and frightened, and very, very afraid of men. While she warmed up to Lynn, she was always very afraid whenever Craig was around. (I hope to help her get over that. Craig is one of my very best friends and he would NEVER hurt anyone!)

While transitioning to life with Lynn and Craig, Molly fell in love with Lisa. She would relax whenever Lisa came over, and stuck to her side, leaning on her, licking her, and following her around. After watching how happy Molly was with Lisa, Lynn and Craig asked if Molly could live with her. (Lynn cried a lot.) Lisa thought for a few days, and then agreed, and Molly now is so happy. You should see how she looks at Lisa - sort of looks like a cheesy movie scene. Millie loves having Molly as part of her family and acts as Molly's comfort dog if Molly gets anxious.

Molly won't play with me, and she was scared of me at first, but she has warmed up and even let me snuggle with her during Thanksgiving!
Molly and me stretched out and sleeping side by side in the kitchen. My antler is close at hand should Molly decide that she does want to play after all.

And, I am happy to say that Molly, after two years, is finally letting Craig give her treats and even pet her. She actually licked him the other day. (Lynn cried again.)

I thought you would like to see some pictures of me meeting my sisters.
Lisa is sitting on the couch and bending over with one arm around me, sitting in front of her on the left, and the other around Molly, sitting in front and on the right. All three of us are smiling.
Millie would not stay still for a photo but she is here sniffing at something at Lisa's feet as she sits on the couch. Molly is sitting on the right again, and still smiling. I'm over to the side with a kong between my paws and smiling, too.

I am so excited because on Wednesday I get to go stay at Millie and Molly's home while Lynn and Craig go to Florida to visit another one of their litter, Kyle, and his family. Lisa says that I will get my own bed in her bedroom along with another in the living room. It will be like a week long slumber party and I can hardly wait.

Gotta scoot - it's just about time for my morning walk with Lynn.

Love always,
Pepper
